Access Statement

 

Introduction

The hotel is on the level seafront (Wilder Road) in Ilfracombe. We have 66 bedrooms offering Singles, Doubles, Twins, Deluxe Rooms and a Honeymoon Suite. The Grosvenor Hotel is an old traditional Victorian Hotel that has been updated and modernised whilst still retaining its original character. This means that upstairs in the corridors, there are a number of stairs and narrow corridors. We do have a lift that accesses about 80% of the Hotel, so if you have any accessibility worries please inform us before you arrive so that we can best room you. All our staff provide the highest service to our guests and we look forward to welcoming you to the Grosvenor Hotel and making your stay here an enjoyable one. Pre-arrival

*For assistance prior to arrival please contact our Reception on 01271 863426. *The centre of the town and High Street is a minute's walk up the hill at the side of the Hotel. If you find this too steep, you can walk along Wilder Road (Turn left as you come out of the Hotel) through the first set of traffic lights, onto the next set of traffic lights then turn left. This brings you to the start of the High Street without any steep climbs. Alternatively, ask us at Reception to book you a Taxi that will take you up to the High Street. *You can contact the hotel by phone, e-mail, fax or in person. We are open 24 hrs a day although e-mail resonses will be reduced from 11pm to 8 am when the Night Porter is on duty

 

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

*All guests should use the Main Front Entrance. There are 8 steps up to the Main Doors. If you need Wheelchair Access, go up the side road (Fortescue Road) about 15 yds and there is a side door which is locked (for security). Just ring the Door Bell and Reception will come around and open the Door. This brings you in on the level, ground floor without having to use the front steps. "There is a drop off point for cars right outside the front of the Hotel. You are welcome to use it for loading and unloading. Then please use our Car Park which is across the road and down the access road to the Museum. (Signposted-'Grosvenor Hotel Car Park'). We only have half a dozen Car Parking Spaces, so we have to allocate on a first come, first served basis. After that, we recommend that you purchase a 4-day, or 7-day Car Park Ticket from the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) over at the Landmark Theatre (which is the big, white 'Cooling Towers' building) just 200 yards past the Hotel on the left.

 

Main Entrance and Reception

Regular buses pass the premises with a bus stop about 200m away. There are a variety of services to Barnstaple, Woolacombe Sands and Lynton from the bus station or Ilfracombe town centre.
